Over the many years in the Quarter Horse business, I had the pleasure of owning and leasing some outstanding mares. I have a love of raising foals and watching them go on to do great things for their owners. Below are the mares I had here on my Maine farm.
2004 Bay Mare
Sire: Indian Artifacts (HUS World Champion)
Dam: Nightscapes
In 2022 DeGraff Stables of Ohio offered this wonderful Appendix Registered broodmare to a forever home. Since I had lost my mare Tender, I wanted another mare to love on. “Hope” fit the bill! Her show and race bloodlines are fantastic! Her sire is an HUS Champion.
1993 Sorrel Mare
Sire: Tender Smokaway (Skipper W 3x’s)
Dam: Thrice a Lady (Skipper W, Top Deck & King)
“Tender” was unshown as an aged mare due to injury. She was shown in halter as a yearling. I purchased Tender when I moved to Maine from Wisconsin in 2001. Over the years, she produced two beautiful fillies for me (below). She had already produced one AQHA performance point earning gelding and a Reg. Paint gelding. She was retired from breeding to a life of leisure! I lost Tender at the age of 27 yrs.
Mae Be Skippin
“Mae”
Now Owned by Becky McAvoy of Prospect, Maine
2004 Sorrel Mare
Sire: Mae Be Obvious Buz x An Obvious Encore
Dam: Ms Tal Tender
Mae’s sire, “Colt”, was an earner of over 450 PHBA Halter and color points. Mae’s owner, Becky McAvoy of Prospect, Maine, took Mae to many clinics and gave her a great foundation.
Skip Strait to You
“Missy”
Now Owned by Vickie Colavolpe of Limerick, Maine
2005 Sorrel Mare
Sire: Zippo Strait to You x Zippo Pine Bar
Dam: Ms Tal Tender
